ABOUT THELEMA

InHocSignoVinces.png

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Thelema is a Greek word that means “Will”, and the OTO is  devoted to the establishment of the Law of Thelema, that is “Do what thou wilt”. Thelema as a philosophy and a religion (intended as from the Latin religare, to unite, to bind together) was established through the reception of the Book of the Law by Aleister Crowley in 1904. Those who follow the path of Thelema are called Thelemites. As dictated in the Book of the Law, Thelema is the word of the Law, implying that the evolution of humanity in the current Aeon (or Age) revolves around the individual Will. This is opposed to the main drivers of the old Aeon, when humankind was subjugated to the Will of an external God.

Thelema promotes the right of the individual to be unique. In Thelema, the individual Pure Will is sovereign over the old precepts of canned, universal moral and ethics. This implies an inward journey for each Thelemite to the discovery of their own Pure Will, and the maturity to respect that of the others without unnecessary conflicts.

In the OTO the path of Thelema is pursued through Magick.

Love is the law, love under will.
